August Round Up

Firstly welcome to our new members;

Mohib, Charli & Marjike

Joining us on Tuesdays at Clapham Common and testing speed at the track on Thursdays in Battersea.

We left the July round-up with Rob embarking on the Gobi March

Follow his experience through his write up 👆

Rob joined the Wombles to complete the Run Through trail half marathon on Wimbledon Common, continuing to build that endurance towards bigger distances!

Last month we welcomed back Anneka to London training, normally leading the front by representing Clapham Runners Abroad we said a fond farewell as she returns home to Greece.

Not without completing 1 more race on ‘home turf’ in action here in Battersea Park for the Sri Chinmoy 10km

Another goodbye to George but not without another Run Through 10km, this time in Battersea Park complete with a flying leap (channelling the inner Julie Andrews; Sound of Music??)

Best of luck with project 3:30 Amsterdam, no doubt you will achieve!

We always love to support our parkruns; Clapham Common & Tooting are where you can regularly find our members 9am Saturday

We volunteer but we also run! Not quite Marie-Anne’s milestone of July but Niamh finally made it to 50! 👏 and has the stash to prove it.

And not forgetting Ken’s parkrun PB during August, those great moments when the training comes off 🙌

Our Clapham Runners and parkrun friends ended the month with a spot of tourism at Dulwich this weekend.

And then we have the mad ones… those like Rob who continue to push the boundaries of their running….

Siobhan & Ellie staring up at the Matterhorn for their next challenge.

Ellie completing the SKY race 49km D+ 3,600, described as:

‘an ideal course requiring one to combine speed and technique, whithout fearing the climb to 3’100m to Gornergrat, offering a panoramic view of the ever present Matterhorn’

‘Only a great athlete will be able to win this race. THE race of the Matterhorn Ultraks – Trail.

Siobhan took on the 25mile event and captured the brutal inclines balanced (maybe) with incredible views along the route.

And continuing with the ultra theme Krysia & family travelled to the UTMB – Krysia completing another ultra supported by the family during their summer holiday! What a solid commitment!

Always pushing and breaking the boundaries 🙌👏

Back on home ground we continue to train Tuesdays and Thursdays to get in that routine and achieve personal goals whether that be general fitness, motivation and improving our running abilities, we’ve been treated to som excellent summer sunsets and Ken has surprised even himself achieving consecutive runner of the weeks for the final 2 track sessions of August 🙌

So September… what do we have in store… more training (obviously) and the annual club event; Thames River Relay… follow the Instagram account for updates on how our 2 teams get on and what this space for the ’round-up’

Whether you are feeling inspired or want some support through motivation come and train with us… Tuesdays and Thursdays
