A very busy September for a number of our Runners, starting on the first Sunday of the month for Rob, running for Kebabs and rolling all the way through to the final Sunday of the month with half marathons for our runners, well it is known as sunday runday!
The first Sunday of each month sees Bababoom’s Kebab Chase, Rob taking this on for September from Battersea up to Islington to get his Sunday up and running!
With Jon away on holiday we alternated the role of coach on Thursday at the track, channelling our inner Jon to ensure we all still worked hard, also treated to some beautiful sunsets at the beginning of the month.
George, pushing for that 10km PB, taking part in another chase the sun event by Runthrough managing to beat the sunset but not quite hitting that elusive sub 40 territory…
Thames River Relay – a great team event saw 2 teams take on the 26.2 relay, a great event where all are welcome, especially brilliant cheering all the finisher legs in Kingston where all the teams come together in support.
Award for most events in a single calendar month goes to Rob…. at it again, hitting September hard with a Saturday parkrun PB @ Clapham and sub 20!!! Plus the Farnham Pilgrim trail marathon the very next day! What a guy!
Also cranking up those miles making the most of the closed roads on London Car Free Day for a long run AND finishingTough Mudder South!
Upping the stakes again, Ellie ventured over to the Brecon Beacons to complete the 44mile Black Mountains to Brecon Beacons 2019 Ultra, great work on a gruelling challenge.
And the final Sunday of the month called for half marathons, with Ken & Charli completing Ealing, Charli running 2:05 for a strong return from recent injury, celebrating with her Mum and Ken (too cold for medal photos) & Co making it a group event with a lovely day out west with running friends from Tooting Common parkrun.
Steve finished off the month completing the Great Run in Glasgow, another great effort in less than ideal autumn conditions that seem to be taking us into October.
congratulations are in order….
To Ellie on her engagement 🙌🥂🍾 a wonderful surprise.
And …… 2 of our runners have also secured their London Marathon places for 2020, Phoebe selected through good for age and Tom a golden bond place running for charity, who will be receiving the good news and who will be disappointed, we don’t know. One of our team will be pulled out of Jon’s hat towards the end of October to take on our Club place on the day (rejection letter and club fees required!).
Another excellent month of training, travelling and getting those events in, lets hope for a let up in this rain heading into October and get our fingers crossed for the London Marathon Ballot results!
