Here is a rundown of what the Clapham Runners achieved in the month of May and what might be going on in June.
On the weekend of the 19th May, a Clapham Runners team completed the Green Belt Relay. This is a two day team relay covering a 220 mile loop through the countryside surrounding London. Well done to everyone who participated (photos below). Also, as the Green Belt is a logistical feat as much as a running event, in terms of getting all the runners to the correct places to start their stages, especial congratulations need to go to Matt and Frank doing all the planning.
Individual Clapham Runners have participated in events ranging in distance from mile (Westminster Mile – Ken) to marathon (Dorchester Marathon – Ellie) and most distances in between – including 10km (Vitality 10000 – Niamh and Ken), 10 Miles (London 10 Mile – Hannah) and half marathon (Edinburgh Half – Lizzy). Well done to all for those.
As ever, Clapham Runners have been training on Tuesdays on Clapham Common (photos from Tuesdays available on Instagram) and Thursdays on the track in Battersea Park. Runners of the Week on the track for the month of May were Frank, Hannah, Ana, Rob and Matt.
Getting club members together in June for the Harry Hawkes 10 has been discussed. Good luck to anyone intending to do that and the link is available here, if you are interested.
