March 2018 round-up

We’ve reached the Spring!  We’re hitting the Common and the track in the light!  Here is what has been going on in March (and what is going on in April)….

First of all, races.  A group of Clapham Runners braved the Beast from the East part two in order to run the Hastings Half.  Presumably because running fast was the best way of keeping warm, there were a few PBs.  A photo of team (having warmed up at the end) can be found below.  We’ve also had Clapham Runners take part in races at home in London (in the inaugural Vitality Big Half in London), reasonably close to home (in the Surrey Half) and much further afield (in the Taygetos Challenge in Greece).  Well done Team CR!

This month we hit marathon season.  We have runners in both Brighton and London.  In the latter, there will be the usual cheering squad, flying our flag at miles 14 and 21.  There will be a post about exactly where closer to the time.

The following month, on the weekend of 19th/20th May, we’ll be fielding a team in the Green Belt Relay.  If you are interested in taking part, get in touch with Matt via the Facebook Group or by email.

On the Tuesday Sessions, the team has been embracing the light evenings and the spring with more people braving wearing shorts.  The first Thursday session of the month (1st March) was called off because of the Beast from the East, but Jon’s made up for it since then by awarding multiple runner of the week stickers on some weeks!  This month’s honours go to:

  • 8th – Kim and Kay.
  • 15th – Anna.
  • 22nd – Lizzie.
  • 29th – Matt, Damian and Hannah.

Happy running for April!

Hastings
