Well done to our two teams of Clapham Runners (Clappers A & B) who ran the Thames River Relay, now a firm fixture in the club calendar. Joining 75 other teams to complete the 26.2 mile baton relay organised by the Stragglers Run Club, our teams finished with impressive team marathon times around the 3h30 mark.
Part of the race is not just first to finish – but there is also a prize (charity donation) for the team which finishes closest to their predicted finish times. There’s also a friendly competition amongst the club to complete all five stages of the event in different years to run the full marathon… Damian took the lead this year as the first club member to run 4 of the 5 legs!
Both teams this year ran faster than expected (never usually a problem!), and thanks to Frank’s mastermind of pick-ups and handovers, we were all at the Hawker Centre finish to watch the glory leg cross the line.
